A half a dozen tourists stood outside the
D C
Lim'rick bar,
D
And thought they'd like to take a trip by
A D
Irish jaunting car,
G C
They jumped up on the side seats and it
D C
started down the street,
D A
But they never saw the character upon the
          D
driver's seat.

D
The Jarvey was a leprechaun and had some
D
magic power,
D
He toured them thro' the Em'rald Isle at a
C A
thousand miles an hour,
D
A phantom horse was in the shafts and no one
D C
was surprised,
D
For the Jarvey was a leprechaun and he had
A D
them hypnotised.

D
He showed them Connemara on the way to
D C
Ireland's eye,
D
They heard him say that Galway Bay was
A D
frozen in July,
D C
He had them kiss the Blarney Stone on
D C
Ballybunion Strand,
D
And a football team from Donegal was
A D
Macnamara's band.

D
Now The Jarvey was a leprechaun and really
D
took them round,
D C
They went thro'' Tipperary town at twice the
A
speed of sound,
D
He told them it was Mullingar when passing
D
by Clonmel,
D C
For the Jarvey was a leprechaun and the
A D
truth he couldn't tell!

D
He told them it was Cromwell lost the battle
D C
of Clontarf
D A
He said the famous Finn Mac'coul was nothing
       D
but a dwarf,
D C D
He swore the Giant's Causeway had been built
                C
in the Phoenix Park,
D A
And it was in Killarney's lakes that Noah
           D
built the ark!

D
The Jarvey was a leprechaun and did the trip
D
so fast,
D
Although the horse had spouted wings the
C A
pace just couldn't last,
D (slow) C
He drove them up the airy mountain, down the
       A
rushy glen,
         D D A
And the Jarvey and the passengers were never
C D
seen again.
